Filipino Protesters Run Over By Police at the US Embassy in Manila

Around 50 people were injured after police attempted to drive their marked vehicle away a group of protestors, whom they say had begun attempting to flip over their car.

Video from Deutsche Welle shows footage of the tragedy.

Police have denied deliberately running over the anti-American protestors. Here's an excerpt from a report in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
“Hindi naman sila sinagasaan (They weren’t run over). The rallyists were trying to flip over the patrol car,” Chief Supt. Oscar Albayalde, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, said in a text message to INQUIRER.net.
“In the process, the driver extricated the patrol car and inadvertently hit some unruly protesters who sustained minor injuries,” he explained.
