Why Is There No Outrage Over Drug Addicts Killing People?

I don't know how many times I've come across misleading arguments which go like, "You're outraged over Kian's killing but aren't outraged when an addict kills a pregnant woman?"

It is unfortunate that I found one such argument in a Facebook fan page of PNP Chief Bato Dela Rosa.

Unfortunate because it is untrue and illogical.

A friend who is a long time professional journalist and thought leader better than Maria Ressa broke this fallacious argument thusly:

There is outrage when a drug addict commits a crime, it is misleading to say that there is none.

As for claims that there is greater outrage when a police officers kill a suspect, you have to consider that criminals commit crimes but policemen are expected to protect and serve.

Greater outrage should be expected when police and other law enforcement authorities commit crime and abuse their authority.
